About Us
We originally started as a family run mobile catering van in 1998, and were renowned for the burger van appearance but not offering burgers. Instead we prided ourselves on making freshly made baguettes & sandwiches.
As the business grew, the dream began to grow too.
The thought came one day of having a cafe, built on the site where the catering van had been trading for years. Jackie & Adrian put this thought into action, and began looking into the possibility. Fast forward 8 years to 2006 and permission was finally granted, and the preparations to turn the catering van’s site into Bayside Cabin as you see it today began.
Since November 2006 when our doors opened for the first time as a cafe, our little seafront cafe has gone from strength to strength, and has exceeded all the expectations that Jackie & Adrian originally dreamt.
Our Ingredients
We believe that using quality, fresh ingredients is the secret to our great tasting food and coffee. All our ingredients are sourced carefully and wherever possible we always choose local suppliers.
Owtons are the Award winning family butchers, who supply all our fresh ingredients from our handmade Lincolnshire sausages, to their award winning Black pudding & handmade pies.
The Fruit Basket – A local family run fruit & vegetable supplier who supply all our fresh fruit & salad on a daily basis
Our coffee is now proudly supplied by Taste Vending in Wimborne. We serve their Purbeck Range – Jurassic blend, inspired by Dorset’s Jurassic Coast just across the water. Hand-roasted in small batches and delivered to us fresh, every cup is ground to order, bringing out a smooth, rich flavour. It’s the perfect coffee to enjoy while taking in the sea views at Bayside Cabin.

Our speciality bottled ales are proudly brewed right here in Gosport by Powder Monkey Brewing Company. Housed in the town’s historic naval gunpowder store, Powder Monkey combines traditional brewing methods with modern innovation to create bold, flavourful beers. By partnering with a local brewer, we’re able to offer our customers a genuine taste of Gosport — ales that are crafted on our doorstep and enjoyed overlooking the same coastline that inspires them.
